MGS2...
How to describe it? The best? No, that's not good enough... Well just read this
and do yourself a favor, buy it!
MGS on PS changed the way we looked at video games. MGS2 changed the
whole video game concept.
You take the best musical score you've heard, you add the most stunning
graphics you've seen, you mix it with the best storyline there is and you get something that resembles MGS2 but does
not equals it.
GRAPHICS: 9.75/10
Putting it simply, they are beautiful and nearly flawless. Everything from
Metal Gear Ray's laser gun down to Snakes bandana moving when you open a door is expeartly calculated. The
only reason the graphics don't get a perfect 10 is because I personnaly noticed that some pieces of Snake disappear in a wall
once or twice, but consider the graphics perfect.
GAMEPLAY: 10/10
yes, you read it correctly,10.
It will take you no time, whether you're a die-hard MGS fan or a newcommer
to get use to the game's control. You might take a few game overs before realising how to get passed guards or how to do "hold-ups"
but the overall gameplay is easy and intuitive. You have to be the more stealthy possible and the rich environnements in which
you evolve are full of little details like bottles, girlie mags(to distract guards) or empty weapon's magazines to distract
the enemies.
STORY: 10/10
The story is very well scripted and by the end, you will find yourself on
the edge of your seat. There is a plot twist before you even start playing and one last one after the credits roll. I urge
you not to skip ANY CG or CODEC call (take even the optional ones). After the game's end, I assure you you'll understand
why the first thing that appears on screen in a new game is the traditionnal "This story is fictionnal [...]" message from
many movies. I will not say more as the scenario is easily the best part in Sons of Liberty.
SOUND, MUSIC & VOIVE-OVERS:10/10
David Hayter, Quintonn Flyn and Harry Gregson-Williams: 3 names that will
forever stay in my mind (altough maybe not the spelling) as the greatest protagonist of video game sound in history. Gregson-Williams
(The Rock, Ennemy of the State,Armagedon) is the composer of MGS2's main score which rivals the one of many Hollywood
movies gave a new dimension to the series, making it feel a lot like a motion picture. David Hayter is back and is even better
than in MGS in the role of the suave Solid Snake and Quinton Flyn plays his part excelently as Raiden although
he's not as good as Hayter. The voice-overs are great and feel alive and the opening movie had me all shaken thanks to the
musical theme.
OVERALL SCORE (Not an average):10/10
THE FINAL WORD
Thank you, Mr Kojima, for letting me play this masterpiece, thank you for
this wondeful game which will be remembered as the greatest one in History...
